Desire encounters problems on new drill

OIL and gas exploration firm Desire Petroleum has encountered difficulties in its latest drilling operation in the North Falkland Basin (NFB).

The Malvern-registered business, which is wholly focussed on the NFB, is currently drilling in the Rachel prospect at the 14/15-1Z well.

In an update today, the firm said stability issues within the latest section of the bore had meant it was impossible to reach target depths.

“The hole is now being cleaned out prior to making a further attempt. A further update will be provided in due course,” the firm said today.
