Four in a row for Indian restaurant Lasan

RENOWNED Birmingham curry restaurant Lasan has been crowned the region’s best for the fourth year running in an industry awards.

The British Curry Awards recognise the best restaurants from across nine UK regions with Lasan being named the best eatery for the whole of the Midlands.

In addition, there are awards for the overall most innovative restaurant and the country’s top newcomer which was won by another Midlands restaurant, Mem Saab in Leicester.

This latest prize joins a growing list of awards for Lasan which is based in the city’s Jewellery Quarter.

Last year it was named best local restaurant by Gordon Ramsay’s TV show The F Word and also featured in Men’s Health magazine’s Healthiest Restaurant Awards.

Director of the Lasan Group Jabbar Khan said: “We work hard to maintain our standards of innovation, excellence and quality and to hold the title of British Curry Award for the fourth consecutive year is a huge honour for us.”

Chef director at Lasan Aktar Islam added: “The British Curry Award is one of the most sought after in the industry, and we are delighted to once again bring this back to Birmingham for the team and our customers.”

Launched in 2005, The British Curry Awards is the largest event on the curry calendar.

This year’s ceremony was held on Sunday night at the Grosvenor House in London and was hosted by TV presenter Justin Lee Collins.
