Colmore businesses race for charity

BUSINESSES in the Colmore Business District have been racing against each other to be the first team to raise £500 for youth charity The Prince’s Trust in the CBD Challenge 500.  More than £9,000 was raised in the challenge, and winning team Hammonds went on to collect £1,000 in an online auction.

Second placed PricewaterhouseCoopers raised £2,872 in a sponsored walk. Team members will celebrate their win with lunch provided by Asha’s Restaurant on Newhall Street.

The Prince’s Trust head of private sector for the West Midlands, Jamie Webb, said: “The money will go directly to helping  disadvantaged young people in Birmingham to set up in business, through The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme and will help them improve their lives.”

Alex Burrows , CBD board member and head of strategy at Centro, said: “CBD decided to support the Challenge 500 to offer firms and members of the business community a fun and innovative way to network and raise money for The Prince’s Trust.  Throughout the four-week period we have had a great time working together and supporting everyone’s events.”
