CIM chief executive shared insight at sell-out onference on the future of marketing practice

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the world’s leading professional marketing body, champion of customer engagement and best practice, hosted a sell-out conference at Aston Business School on 14 June. Eight five senior marketers from across the Midlands enjoyed an interactive day sharing insights on the future of marketing practice from industry leaders.

Chris Daly, Chief Executive of CIM, gave the keynote speech at the event. He outlined how CIM is working towards improving and sharing ‘best practice’ alongside the research carried out by Aston Business School and the British Academy of Management.

“Our presenters provided the framework for a passionate and enthusiastic debate regarding how we go about the practice of marketing, said Dr Keith Glanfield, CIM Midlands Vice Chair, education and learning.

“We have begun the important process of uncovering and sharing best practice and have more planned for the next twelve months. Our aim is to develop a CIM ‘marketing-as-practice’ tool kit that characterises different marketing environments and their challenges.  We also hope to include a set of ‘best practise’ interventions to make our marketing practice more effective.” Speakers included Professor Katy Mason, Vice Chair of British Academy of Management; Neil Davidson, Managing Partner, Hey Human and Susan Vidler, Head of Research, Harris Interactive.

Workshops were hosted by Dr Keith Glanfield, Dr Gary Burke and Dr Carola Wolfe from Aston Business School.
