A charity that supports homeless people with a range of essential services has been given a huge boost following a fundraising event staged by leading construction company MCS Group.

Helping Hands Community Project, based in Leamington Spa, will receive a donation of £15,000 from the company after MCS Group’s charity day at The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club.

Helping Hands provides services to homeless people across Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth, including work-ready skills and qualifications, volunteering opportunities and employment with local businesses. It also runs a soup kitchen and provides furniture and other essentials for recently re-housed people and low-income families.

MCS Group welcomed more than 150 guests at its annual fundraising event. Activities included a golf tournament, karting at Wheels in Birmingham, and a charity auction. MCS Group employees were joined by representatives from clients and suppliers including Chancerygate, St Francis Group, Kingspan, Malin Floors and many others.

Managing director Keir Edmonds said: “We had a fantastic charity day. The generosity of our guests never ceases to amaze me. Their kind donations are very much appreciated.

“Helping Hands is an inspirational charity guiding people, who for many reasons may find themselves homeless or in a vulnerable situation, along a path towards a brighter future. At MCS Group, we think it’s vital to support our local communities and we hope that this donation will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most.

“Our relationship with Helping Hands is one we value enormously, and we look forward to continuing our support as it continues to grow and expand its range of services for vulnerable people right across the region.”

Lianne Kirkman, who established the Helping Hands Community Project four years ago, said: “The support we have received from the MCS Group has been phenomenal. The company continues to be hugely supportive of the work that we do. We are so grateful to them.”

MCS Group has helped the charity by providing volunteers who have given time and energy, and donated around £35,000 in 2018, raised at a variety of events.

The company is building a reputation as one of the industrial and warehouse sector’s leading construction companies. The company has also built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships including Audi, BMW, McLaren and Jaguar Land Rover since its inception in 2003.
