Total Training included on new register of apprenticeship training providers

Total Training has received full approval from the Skills Funding Agency to register and deliver apprenticeship courses.

Total Training Company UK, which has centres in Birmingham and Hartlepool, has received official notification from the Skills Funding Agency that it is to be included in the new Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP).

The register has been created to support the new Apprenticeship Levy, which was introduced by the UK Government in April 2017, as the new mechanism for apprenticeship provision for companies and students.

Requiring all employers operating in the UK with a payroll bill of more than £3M to invest in apprenticeships, the new funding scheme commenced on 1 May 2017.

Total Training was required to demonstrate that it is able to deliver apprenticeship training to employers using the service and who are able to pay for the necessary programmes.  In addition, the company is also required to deliver training to its own apprentices and those of any associated companies using the service and provide apprenticeship training on a full subcontractor basis.

John Smith, managing director for Total Training, said: “We are naturally delighted to be included on the RoATP list and to be part of this new initiative to promote and improve apprenticeship training in the UK.

“In recent years’ many young people are seeking an alternative career route to the traditional university course, particularly in light of the high costs associated with gaining a degree in the 21st Century.  Instead, many are finding they prefer to learn through a combination of hands-on training and study, while also receiving a wage at the end of the month and an apprenticeship makes this possible.

“One of the main advantages of the new scheme is that employers are no longer necessarily tied to industry associations or designated colleges and instead can work with training providers such as ourselves. This will allow more choice and flexibility as to how and where they spend their available apprenticeship funding, which inevitably will deliver more money for the learner.”
