Whitehouse joins property entrepreneur at Blackswan Development

Entrepreneurial PRS and mixed use developer, Blackswan Development, has announced a key new appointment to its team following a period of rapid growth and project mobilisation.

Richard Whitehouse has been appointed as Director of Development and will be based at Blackswan’s office in the Jewellery Quarter. He has an extensive development background across the UK, most recently running his own consultancy business, prior to which he spent 10 years as a Director at Shepherd Developments.

Richard said:

“I was introduced to Blackswan by a mutual contact and was impressed by the scale of projects and the aspirations for the business.  The potential for growth in the business attracted me to join Blackswan and this combined with access to substantial internal financial resources and superb funding contacts is an exciting combination.”

Marcus Hawley, Blackswan Development’s Managing Director said:

“Richard’s vast experience, track record and contacts will assist us in growing our development pipeline of prominent projects and allow us to convert deals and find new sites. We are very excited to have someone of Richard’s calibre on board at Blackswan.”

Blackswan’s current projects have an end value in excess of £175M and include Gilders Yard on Great Hampton Street in the Jewellery Quarter, a 156 unit residential scheme which is due to start on site in Autumn 2017.  Also, Blackswan has just submitted an application for a substantial PRS led mixed use scheme adjacent to the Jewellery Quarter railway station which will deliver, 490 apartments, 40,000 sq.ft of commercial, retail and cafe space, a new hotel and a much needed new additional station entrance.
