Awards: InterfaceFLOR wins BICA accolade; Irwin Mitchell praised for rehab work; Student of the Year Award at UHY

CARPET tile manufacturer InterfaceFLOR has been named a national Example of Excellence in the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence.
The Halifax-based firm received the accolade in the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Climate Change Award category in a ceremony at the Royal College of Music.
InterfaceFLOR is aiming to eliminate any of its negative impact on the environment by 2020 in an effort known as Mission Zero.
Abyd Karmali, managing director and global head of carbon markets for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, said: "InterfaceFLOR demonstrates a holistic and sophisticated approach to climate change which is rooted in a 16-year history of addressing sustainability issues.

LAW firm Irwin Mitchell has won at the Rehabilitation First Awards for the third year running.
The company triumphed in the “Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Claimant Solicitor” category at the awards hosted by insurance industry publication Post Magazine.
The award relates to the company's work with a 22-year-old graduate who suffered life-threatening injuries in a road accident.
Neil Whiteley, partner in the brain injury team at Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield, said: "Rehabilitation is at the forefront of everything we do for our clients - we all strive to ensure they receive the very best levels of care and rehabilitation.

A SENIOR manager at York accountancy firm UHY Calvert Smith has won the "Trust and Estate Accounting Student of the Year" award.
Amanda Millett, who joined the firm in 1998, scored the top marks out of 118 candidates in the May 2009 exam of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Julia Judson Smith, partner at UHY Calvert Smith, said: “The tax issues surrounding estates and trusts have become increasingly complex in recent years. It is vitally important for clients that they have access to an accountant who has an in-depth understanding of these issues.
