EMPLOYEES from Barclays Corporate, Cobbetts and Baker Tilly are preparing to take part in a 45 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.

The group of bankers, lawyers and accountants aim to raise £7,500 for the hospice by walking along Hadrian's Wall in three days.

St Gemma's Hospice cares for more than 1,000 patients every year with terminal illnesses, predominately cancer, via an in-patient unit, day hospice and team of community nurses.

The hospice also provides bereavement counselling for adults and children.

Phil Dibbs, relationship director for Barclays Corporate in Yorkshire, said: "It's great to work jointly with the Leeds business community for such a worthy cause. St Gemma's provides vital support to the local community and this is a fantastic example of Barclays staff fundraising to achieve something which we hope will make a real and lasting difference."

Richard King, managing partner at Baker Tilly‘s Leeds office, added: "St Gemma's is a fantastic and truly deserving charity which has made a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people. We are looking forward to the walk and although we know it will be hard work, we are determined to complete it as we want to raise as much money as we can."
