About EV

EV is an independent provider of venture and growth capital and operates from a network of UK locations, including offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Preston, with further openings planned during 2011.

It currently manages £130million of investment funds on behalf of its national and international clients from both the private and public sector and has recently been awarded management of a number of mandates focused on the regional SME market.

Via its range of managed funds, EV offers venture and growth capital investment of up to £2million to new or existing SMEs based throughout the UK and has a growing investment portfolio trading across a broad range of sectors, from manufacturing and distribution, to biomedical and healthcare.

EV is able to consider investments at all stages of business maturity, including start-up & early stage, (including proof of concept and pre-revenue in technology deals), through to later stage investments, including management buy-out/buy-in opportunities and development & replacement capital deals.

Our approach

Our approach is about much more than money. As well as capital, our investment teams invest large amounts of time in getting to understand each individual business, to make certain it has the strongest possible advantage.

Experience has shown that high-calibre, suitably qualified mentors, sometimes appointed as non-executive directors, can add great value, offering practical help and experience, the latter essential in challenging times.

The application process

Businesses, entrepreneurs, management teams and intermediaries should contact EV's investment teams with their proposals. Following an initial telephone call, and should the investment team feel that they wish to take the proposal forward and review in more detail, they will be requested to submit a high level funding proposal outlining the opportunity and providing outline financial details.

The process then moves quickly through a series of meetings, site visits and agreement of outline terms. This is followed by a period of external due diligence and legal documentation before final investment approval and completion.

EV will seek to be an active engaged partner with its investee companies, and post-investment, will contribute at a strategic board level in helping management teams drive value creation across a range of areas.
