PONTEFRACT-based farm shop and butcher Farmer Copleys has scooped the Best On Farm Retailer accolade at the FARMA Awards 2010.
The award follows a spate of recent success for the business, which was also announced Farm Shop of the Year at the Butcher Shop of the Year Awards.
Farmer Copleys first began selling its home grown beef to the public in December 2003. Now the multimillion pound business has been redeveloped to offer a farm retail experience complete with open view bakery, 10.5m butchery counter, deli, café, florist shop and weekend fishmonger.
Owner and co-founder Heather Copley said: “To be shortlisted was a great achievement but to win was outstanding. We are pleased to have been acknowledged for the work that we have done and the huge amount of time, effort and money that we have invested in the business.”
The National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA) is a 700-strong farmer-owned co-operative that represents and supports direct sales to the consumer in all its forms from farm shops, pick-your-own farms, farmers’ markets, box schemes to internet sales.
