Guy qualified in 1986 and became a partner at Cobbetts in 2002.

In particular he deals with substantial corporate M&A, MBO, MBI, and public markets work for both private and public clients on a regional and national basis. He is recognised by Chambers & Partners A Legal Guide to the Legal Profession as a leader in his field and has an established and recognised reputation for his knowledge on all aspects of corporate law.

Recent high profile deals that Guy has advised on include: Pantheon Financial on its sale to Friends Provident; the multi-million sale of 70% of Sandtoft Holdings to Weinerberger; Optare plc on its admission to AIM and its £15.9 million acquisition of Jamesstan Investments; and the £8 million merger of Leeds-based workplace consultancy, Work Inc Holdings Ltd with Eastlake Group Ltd to form Eastlake Work Group Ltd.

Guy is a member of the Society for Computers and Law and the European Solicitors Group.  He is also a trustee of the Children's Heart Surgery Fund, a significant regional children's charity based at the Leeds General Infirmary; and a council member of the Leeds Chamber of Commerce.
