New regional chairman for IoD

THE Institute of Directors (IoD) in Yorkshire and the Humber has appointed business-woman Margaret Wood, as the new regional chairman.

Ms Wood will take over the position from Nimble Thompson, who has been in the role since 2005.

Ms Wood founded specialist engineering and manufacturing firm ICW Modular Glazing in 1991 and has guided the Wakefield business from a small niche firm to an industry leader with a worldwide customer base ranging from Formula 1 teams to Kew Gardens.

Ms Wood’s expertise and dedication to innovation has seen her honoured with several awards throughout her career, including a Women Inventors in Industry award and an IoD Director of the Year accolade.

Ms Wood said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed as new regional chairman of the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber and am looking forward to representing the region’s business leaders and pushing for continued support and investment for Yorkshire.

“One of my chief aims will be to ensure that Yorkshire retains and develops its young talent which will maintain and secure our position as a major force in the UK economy.”

Nimble Thompson will continue to be involved with the organisation via his position as non-executive director of the IoD’s national Board of Directors.

He said; “I would like to offer my best wishes to Margaret and extend my thanks to all those that I have been involved with during my time as regional chairman”
