SPECIALIST cask filling systems and brewing equipment manufacturer Microdat has acquired rival Gimson and Chadburn.

The buyout for an undisclosed sum will see Leicester-based Gimson merged into Microdat's high tech manufacturing facility in Leeds.

Alastair Sims, Gimson's managing director, will stay on with the business for a year to ensure a smooth transfer. Jack Glover, Chadburn's chief design engineer will also join the Leeds team.

The Leicester facility will close.
