BRIGHOUSE-based Orchard is experiencing one of its busiest years to date despite the downturn with sales punching above the £1m mark.

During the first three months of the year the energy consultant took on 84 new clients compared to 171 in the whole of 2008.

Total annual sales are predicted to be just shy of £1.5m compared to £945,000 last year.

In the first quarter of this year turnover was 30% higher at £400,000.
