Yorkshire Business Masters 2011: Yorkshire Newcomer

THE Yorkshire Newcomer award at the Yorkshire Business Masters 2011 will showcase the dynamism, innovation and enterprise that characterises the region’s business community.

Sponsored by the Leeds University Business School, judges will be looking for the best new business initiative in the region in the last year.

Last year’s award went to Tom Acland for his business Cafe2U, a mobile coffee franchise based on a concept imported from Australia.

Professor Peter Moizer, dean of the Leeds University Business School, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Yorkshire Newcomer category in the Yorkshire Business Masters 2011 awards.

“It complements our commitment to share our knowledge and expertise; support business initiatives across the region and help companies stay one step ahead.

“Many believe that it will be the next generation of business pioneers that will lead the country into a new period of growth by creating companies, wealth and jobs.

“We believe that we have a pivotal role to play in this by giving students, graduates and businesses the knowledge, ideas and intelligence to survive in these tough times. Sponsoring the newcomer category in these awards demonstrates our commitment to fulfil this role.”

The Yorkshire Business Masters 2011 takes place on June 16 at Aspire, in Leeds.

Starting at noon, the event begins with a champagne reception, followed by a three course lunch accompanied by fine wine.
