Yorkshire Business Masters 2011: Winning a "great honour"

SECURING the Yorkshire Pride award at the Yorkshire Business Masters has been described as a “great honour” by last year’s winner – Jonathan Wild, of Bettys & Taylors.

Mr Wild, who recently retired as chief executive of the Harrogate-based company, collected the award last year for his work developing a United Bank of Carbon to help preserve rainforests.

The Yorkshire Pride award rewards the most meaningful philanthropic initiative by a business, organisation or leader and is sponsored again this year by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire.

Mr Wild said: “The United Bank of Carbon is a Yorkshire-based charity, working to tackle one of the biggest causes of climate change – rainforest deforestation.

“To be recognised with a Yorkshire Business Master Yorkshire Pride award was a great honour for the businesses and academics collaborating in this initiative, and has helped raise awareness for UBoC and its aims within the Yorkshire business community.”

Tickets are now also available for the event which starts at noon with a champagne reception followed by a three course lunch accompanied by fine wine.

The tickets are priced at £125 plus VAT each and are sold in pairs.

The awards are also supported by Leeds University Business School, NatWest, Credit Agricole, KPMG and Walker Morris.
