JEWELLERY group Abbeycrest today announced "encouraging" half year results but said its full year performance will hinge on Christmas trading.

Executive chairman Simon Ashton said that the group had made a £200,000 operating profit pre-exceptional items in the six months to August 31 compared to none the year before. Pre-tax profit post exceptional items as £1.3m compared to a £2.2m loss last time.
