Findel creates jobs with opening of new distribution centre

FINDEL, the home shopping, education and healthcare specialist, is to occupy a major distribution centre at the new Burnley Bridge Business Park – a move that will create more than 120 jobs.

Work on the 213,000 sq ft warehouse is scheduled to begin later this year and it should be ready for occupation in autumn 2010.

The 70-acre Burnley Bridge Business Park by Junction 9 of the M65 is located on the former Hepworth’s site at Pollard Moor on the outskirts of Hapton and Padiham.

Overall it is estimated that the new business park, which is being developed by Leeds-based property firm Eshton Group, will lead to 1,600 new jobs.

James Chapman, managing director of Eshton, said: “Findel’s commitment to Burnley Bridge is tremendous news. It is a significant vote of confidence in this pioneering development, which is now open for business.

“This is a massive regeneration scheme for the Burnley region, which will have significant benefits for the local economy and community, especially in these challenging economic times.”

Dave Sanderson, operations director of Burley-in-Wharfedale-based Findel said: “Findel is delighted to take advantage of the opportunity that the Burnley Bridge development represents to them.

“The location is perfect to feed its major sites in Accrington and Chadderton. The creation of a large custom-built warehouse will not only bring greater efficiency but will assist the continued expansion of the group”.

The £48m flagship business park comprises 680,000 sq ft of mixed-use employment space, including large industrial units of up to 400,000 sq ft. It is primarily seeking to attract light industrial and distribution-based occupiers.
There will also be offices, a convenience retail store, crèche and hotel.

The agents for the development are Dove Haigh Phillips of Leeds and Trevor Dawson of Blackburn and Burnley.
