Demolition to make way for 127-apartment project in York

Hudson House, York

Property investors Palace Capital have submitted a planning application for a 127-apartment development in York which will see them demolishing a 1960s building.

The investors have applied to the City of York council to develop a major site at Hudson House, Toft Green.

Palace had planned to develop the 2-acre site, which contains a 103,000 sq ft 1960s office building for residential use and two planning approvals were obtained.

However, following consultations Palace has decided to demolish the existing property and erect four new buildings, totalling 139,000 sq ft.

A route through the site which will connect York Railway Station to Toft Green and Micklegate.

The submitted planning application incorporates 127 apartments, with a net sales area of 100,000 sq ft,  34,000 sq ft net of Grade A offices, 5,000  sq ft net of commercial space and 97 car parking spaces.

Neil Sinclair, chief executive of Palace Capital, commented: Hudson House was part of the Sequel Portfolio which we acquired from Quintain plc in October 2013. We have been very encouraged by the feedback received during the pre-planning application process and we are excited about the prospects for this property. Grade A office space is much needed in this fast-growing city which is less than two hours by train from London.”
