People: Lowell appoints COO; Double hire for pharmaceutical company; and more

Craig White has been appointed UK chief operating officer at Leeds-headquartered credit manager GFKL Lowell.

He will take up his new role next month and replaces Andrew Bartle, who is leaving to develop new ventures.

White will lead the UK Operations team and contribute to GFKL Lowell’s efforts to strengthen its position as one the largest credit management companies in Europe.

With a career in the financial sector that spans more than 30 years, White joins GFKL Lowell from Domestic and General where he held the position of UK customer and sales director.  He had previously held senior roles with Capita, Barclays Bank and GE Money.

Quality Context, a Sheffield based pharmaceutical company, has made two appointments.

The company, which provides pharmaceutical importation, testing, secondary packaging and consultancy services, has appointed Jon Austwick as audit manager to support a client base spanning over 40 countries. Prior to his appointment, he worked in a senior quality role for the global pharmaceutical company Smith & Nephew.

Also new to the team is Dulce Farrow, who joined as programme manager, supporting Austwick and the audit services team in managing multiple, worldwide projects.

Founding director Kate Krachai said: “Quality Context’s recent rapid expansion means we’re always on the lookout for talented people. Dulce and Jon will be excellent additions to the team and both bring with them a wealth of expertise. Their appointments will help us achieve our goal of supporting more and more clients in protecting the safety and wellbeing of patients.”

Quality Context employs 22 staff and has plans to recruit at least another four people in the second quarter of 2017.

Drax chairman and non-executive chairman Philip Cox has been appointed as a non-executive director and chairman designate of construction firm Kier Group with effect from July 1.

He will succeed Phil White, who will retire after nine years as chair of the company.

Cox is currently chairman of Global Power Generation (CPG) and will step down from this position by September 10.
