Harrogate feels good with launch of state-of-the art well-being centre

A personal wellbeing centre offering physiotherapy, pilates and nutrition services has opened its doors at a medical centre in Harrogate.

The OneWellness Centre, part of OneMedicalGroup, has launched within Mowbray Square Medical Centre to give people access to an exercise studio, treatment rooms and fully equipped fitness suite.

Visitors will be able to use the team of onsite experts to help optimise injury recovery time and improve strength, stability and emotional wellbeing, and for advice on pre-and post-natal rehabilitation.

Physio for golfers is also offered and specialist upper limb physio as well as preventative therapy to aid flexibility through pilates and yoga.

OneWellness is led by Stephen Kirk, a qualified physiotherapist who specialises in rehabilitation and injury prevention and has more than 17 years’ experience within the NHS and elite sports.

He said: “We are excited to open the new centre and everyone is welcome both adults and children, whatever their wellness needs.

“Our centre offers something different, it’s about a bespoke approach tailored to the individual, many of our clients are already generally fit and well, and their goal is to stay that way; for others, recovering from an injury or getting back into a sport is their main aim. So, whether you suffer from a re-occurring bad back, need support to recover from ski or sporting injury, or simply just want to improve flexibility, we will work closely with you for your specific need.

“It is strange that we all give our car an MOT and fine tuning, but many of us don’t support our own wellbeing in the same way. Our new centre wants to change the way we treat our own wellbeing to make it a priority so that people can reach their own goals and sustain fitness, flexibility and good health.”

OneWellness has been set up by Leeds-based OneMedicalGroup, a national provider of healthcare solutions to the NHS.

Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, chief executive of OneMedicalGroup, said: “There is a growing demand for people to proactively manage their own health and fitness requirements and making the best of one’s self is a personal passion mine, so I have launched the new venture to provide a different service to meet this need.

“Our new centre on Mowbray Square is all about exclusive wellbeing support for the people of Yorkshire from our welcoming team of experts, whether that is being able to make the best of one’s self, keep up with the grandchildren, continue cycling, enhance their golf performance, or even run a marathon.

“OneWellness Centre’s predominant focus will be on preventative support and guidance and will be flexible in meeting both the physical and emotional needs of each individual. With extensive experience operating in the NHS, I am all too aware of how an illness, injury or poor mental health can impact a person’s ability to live a long and happy life.”
