Leeds waste services company Acumen has acquired a West Yorkshire rival.

The £11m-turnover company is growing its capacity after acquiring Keighley-based Highspeed Group.

It will bring Highspeed’s 15 staff, headquarters and waste treatment facility in Keighley into the group, which already employs 70 people.

The same management team will be on hand to provide the services, with David Mears and Andrew Vincent retained as consultants by Acumen to ensure a smooth transition of ownership.

Finance director Kris Sutton, commented “We’re proud to be able to welcome the Highspeed team and their Customers to Acumen. Andrew Vincent, David Mears and the team can be justifiably proud of what they have achieved with the business.”

David Mears said: “Andy and I have developed the business over the last sixteen years taking us into new markets and we wanted to ensure that any new owners would share our vision for the business and Acumen have demonstrated those shared goals. We can now look forward to our retirement in due course.”

Clarion acted for Acumen with Rachael Stockley and Rachel Dean of the corporate team advising g on the acquisition; and Grace Allison providing advice on the property aspects.
