Telecoms firm spreads its wings into Switzerland

York-based Cellhire, which has serviced international events including Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, Cannes Film Festival and Tour de France, has launched an office in Switzerland.

The telecoms firm said the move will help it to capitalise on the expanding Swiss market and build a platform to grow its large corporate, NGO and sports customer base.

“Cellhire has a global footprint coupled with an unrivalled network portfolio which, in the context of the mobile telecommunications market, is unique,” says Matt Bennett, Cellhire UK managing director. “This helps the company win business worldwide and differentiates it from other telecommunications companies, large and small.”

As well as events, Cellhire has an established base of corporate customers and also supplies the consumer travel and education markets.

Florence Lebranchu, business development director at Cellhire, said: “Our new office in Switzerland is a fantastic opportunity for Cellhire to break into the strong NGO and sports market in Switzerland and build on the success achieved at the Rio Olympics in which Cellhire supplied 22,000 connections, including telecoms for 15 of the major Olympic teams.”

Cellhire has already secured major clients for voice and data connections in Switzerland, with some customers also choosing to partner with its sister company Vismo, to track and protect their staff operating overseas in high risk areas.

In 2005 Cellhire won the Queen’s Award for International Enterprise for its success as a specialist in the delivery of communications solutions for events around the world.
