South Yorkshire travel firm has secured a six-figure funding deal to help expand its fleet and create jobs to keep up with demand.

Gee Vee Travel in Barnsley, founded in 1984, has used the funding to buy an executive standard coach with on-board facilities including a television and coffee machine.

Gee Vee provides a luxury escorted holiday experience for customers from all over the UK. Popular trips include Blackpool and Torquay, with European travel stretching to Spain, Italy and Austria.

The family-run business, which already employs around 25 staff, says it is looking to hire more over the coming months to keep up with increased demand.

The funding deal was completed by Sarah Gwynne at Yorkshire Bank.

Gordon Clark, owner of Gee Vee Travel, said: “Yorkshire Bank has always provided us with great service, and this time it was no different. We are thrilled that they have assisted with the purchase of this fantastic new vehicle and we can’t wait to make the most of it over the upcoming summer months.”

Nick Leatherland, relationship manager, commercial banking, Yorkshire Bank, said: “We’re proud  to have worked with Gee Vee Travel for many years, and are delighted to have been able to support them with their growth plans.  This new purchase will enable them to continue offering high quality holidays and boost the economy with new jobs.”
