Gym chain set to launch in Russia

Gym chain TRIB3 is opening its first site in Russia this month as it launches a Moscow gym.

The Sheffield chain’s chief executive Kevin Yates has confirmed that a license agreement to take the brand the the city has been signed.

The site will be opened by the end of summer, as TRIB3 prepares for its first Leeds opening.

TRIB3’s board director and partner in Russia is Alexei Drobot former MD of Johnson & Johnson, TUI and Russian fitness brand World Class.

TRIB3’s new European managing director Rod Hill is in “advanced talks” with Spanish partners where the first sites are expected to be launched by the end of 2017 in Barcelona and Madrid.

TRIB3 are also in talks to take the brand to France, Switzerland, Portugal and Ireland, with plans for more than 40 clubs further clubs in the UK.

“We are delighted that Russia has embraced the TRIB3 concept so enthusiastically,” said Yates.

“Russia is a country that is thirsty for Western brands and culture and our recent visit to Moscow proved to us just how keen they were to press ahead with a TRIB3 launch as quickly as possible.

“We believe the brand’s strength comes from its firm South Yorkshire roots, working alongside companies like Sheffield commercial interior design and fit-out specialist Ovo Spaces on rolling out the distinctive TRIB3 look both nationally and internationally.”

Co-founded by Kevin Yates, Dan Summerson and David Cross of Croda Studios, TRIB3 launched its first site in Sheffield’s Ecclesall Road at the start of 2016.

There are currently three centres open at Ecclesall Road, the Krynkl development in Sheffield’s Kelham Island and at The Source in Meadowhall, with a site in Leeds now in development.
