People: Building Society appoints deputy CEO; Senior hires at construction firm; and more

Janet Bedford

Janet Bedford has been promoted from finance director to deputy chief executive of Beverley Building Society.

The move follows the announcement last year that chief executive Peter Myers will leave Beverley Building Society at the end of this month, following his five year improvement strategy.

Bedford will the Society for an interim period until a new chief executive is announced in the summer.

Bedford says: “The Society has grown and changed so much under Peter’s leadership it is now in a position to have a broader executive base that will include myself as deputy, Mark Marsden as risk director and the new chief executive. I am thrilled with the opportunity and enjoy seeing our ideas come to fruition for the benefit of the Society, its members and stakeholders.”

Myers added:  “I am thrilled that Janet has taken the opportunity to become deputy, she is a great asset to The Beverley and since her appointment in 2014, has driven a series of improvements around managing net margin, improving internal systems, IT and moving to a paperless office. The main aim of this is to streamline our processes and service provision so that our counter and mortgage teams can spend more time providing first class customer service.”
