People: Host of hires as Grant Thornton expands Yorkshire team; Law firm expands private client team; and more

Grant Thornton has announced 20 appointments across Yorkshire, including three senior team hires.

The advisory firm has welcomed people across its advisory and audit teams, with senior appointments Richard Oddy, Casper Kaars Sijpesteijn and Rory Goldthorpe joining to expand Grant Thornton’s offering in a number of key growth areas.

A former senior associate at consulting firm, AlixPartners, Oddy joins Grant Thornton as associate director, following 10 years in strategic advisory roles within boutique practices. A specialist in restructuring advice for lenders, his immediate focus will be co-ordinating Grant Thornton’s asset-based lending advisory offering across Yorkshire and the North East, working with the wider advisory team.

Kaars Sijpesteijn has also been appointed as associate director, joining the firm from Leeds based distributer Premier Farnell. The Manchester Business School MBA graduate will add to the strong expertise within the firm’s business consulting team and will work alongside colleagues to support corporates with all aspects of business, operational and finance function options.

Audit senior manager Goldthorpe leaves Henton and Co to join the firm’s fast growing audit practice.

The trio are joined by a number of junior and experienced hires which has bolstered the transaction advisory services, corporate finance, wealth advisory and forensic investigation departments.

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet is further expanding its extensive private client department with the addition of two specialist solicitors.

The firm has appointed Richard Barlow and John Tunnard to its probate and contentious probate teams respectively, to meet demand from clients and ambitious growth targets.

Partner Barlow joins Taylor&Emmet from Banner Jones in Chesterfield. He handles all wills and probate matters, including tax planning and brings more than 18 years’ experience to the firm.

Contentious probate solicitor Tunnard, worked previously at Sills and Betteridge’s Lincoln and Nottingham offices, handling a range of private client work. At Taylor&Emmet, he will be focusing on inheritance, will and trust disputes, offering assistance to both trustees, executors and disappointed beneficiaries wishing to challenge the distribution of assets.

Kate Greenwood

Communications agency We are Vista has appointed Kate Greenwood as production manager as it continues to expand its exhibitions team.

Greenwood was previously the operations and purchasing manager at Litestructures Projects UK.

She spent eight years at the creative design and construction company, where she helped to create brand experience environments for clients such as Coca Cola and F1 teams.

William Sutton, director of operations, said: “We’re thrilled to have Kate join the team as we enter our next phase of growth. She brings with her a wealth of experience in brand experience and project delivery.”
