£20m North Yorkshire village snapped up

After a year on the market, a North Yorkshire village has been acquired by a Norfolk property investment firm.

The village is West Heslerton, which was put on the market a year ago following the death of previous owner Eve Dawnay five years ago. Dawnay’s family had owned the village for 150 years.

She had inherited the estate, which includes a 21-bedroom mansion, 43 houses, a pub and thousands of acres of farm land, in 1964.

Now, Norfolk-based property developers Albanwise have bought the site for an “undisclosed amount” off the guide price of £20m.

A spokesperson told The Guardian: “Albanwise Ltd is due to become the new owner of West Heslerton Estate and looks forward to incorporating this within our North Yorkshire Estate.”

Annual rental and agricultural subsidy income comes in at £388,000, said estate agents Cundalls.
