Hotels and major commercial space set to launch at Tetley Brewery site

Approval is being sought for plans for the Tetley Brewery which could create 6,500 jobs, developing two hotels and thousands of square foot of commercial space for retail and restaurants.

Developers have submitted an outline planning application to Leeds City Council for the development of the site.

Property groups Vastint and GL Real Estate have lodged the application to allow them to begin work on offices, residential and commercial buildings on the site, as well as a public realm including a park.

Plans for the major mixed-use scheme include 850 residential units including students and 5% affordable housing, up to two hotels with 400 beds, 915,000 sq ft of business space and 161,000 sq ft of commercial space for restaurants and shops.

It also includes provisions for the HS2 development that will arrive with the Yorkshire Hub transport masterplan, currently underway.

Several buildings will be demolished, including the five-storey Tetley House, let to Carlsberg UK, the former Gatehouse opposite the Tetley Brewery and an Asda warehouse.
