100 Club Profile: Cathy Cook, LCF Law

Cathy Cook, corporate partner at LCF Law, is a member of the Leeds Community Foundation’s 100 Club, a patronage scheme for individuals who are motivated to make a difference in Leeds. Here she discusses what she loves about the city, and why she’s involved in the foundation.

What is your favourite thing about Leeds? The opportunities available to residents and the availability of the theatre, live music, fabulous shopping, spacious parks and sports facilities, and of course the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.

What is the worst thing about the city? Traffic and congestion.

Why are you a member of Leeds Community Foundation’s 100 Club? We’re all part of this great city, but some of us are having a much easier time than others, and it is good to try to redress the balance where possible. Money contributed to the 100 Club enables Leeds Community Foundation to raise income and build capacity that directly supports charities in Leeds which we wouldn’t otherwise be able to identify.

What community issues are important to you and/or your organisation? Mental health is so important and can affect anyone at any time. It affects not only those suffering directly, but their friends and families too. I know it’s been covered a lot recently in the media, but the more it’s talked about, hopefully the easier it will become for people to ask for help.
