Law firm expands again with launch of new division

The Leeds office of Mills & Reeve has stepped up its expansion strategy with the launch of an employment law offering.

The team will be headed up by partner Stuart Craig, an employment lawyer. Craig, who advises a wide range of employers, including Plcs, private businesses, universities and NHS Trusts, has relocated from Cambridge to lead the launch.

Joining him is principal associate Rebecca Pallot, who has joined the Leeds office from DAC Beachcroft where she was an associate and led its social care practice.

She acts for many NHS organisations, local authorities, charities and other third sector organisations.

Craig said: “There are a wealth of opportunities in Yorkshire and the firm is in an excellent position to capitalise on its market leading position in sectors such as education, healthcare, technology and food and drink. I am looking forward to launching our employment law offering in the region and working with the corporate, dispute resolution, real estate and insurance teams in Leeds to further developing our corporate and commercial services to clients.”

The Leeds office has expanded its commercial offering recently with the launch of its corporate team headed by former Irwin Mitchell partner Paul Johnson, IP partner Mark Pearce from Bond Dickinson and partner Simon Pedley leading its move into commercial disputes.

It has also boosted the private client offering with the arrival of partner Andrew Playle from Bond Dickinson.

Philip Way, head of the Leeds office, said: “The expansion of our corporate and commercial offering is gathering pace. Stuart and Rebecca have a wealth of experience in the sector and we are delighted to welcome them onboard as they spearhead the launch of our employment team.”
