Media veteran joins Made TV board

Leeds-based hyperlocal TV network Made Television has hired a media veteran as its deputy chairwoman.

Lesley MacKenzie has joined the board of the growing network, which also includes chairman Ian West, Tom Moloney, David Montgomery, John Davis, Mark Christie and Jonathan Ralph Flay.

Mackenzie has been appointed by CEO Jamie Conway, who was recently named a Rising Star in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards. She joins having had an extensive career in media, from BSkyB, to Amazon company LOVEFiLM and News Corp, owners of the Daily Mail.

More recently MacKenzie has worked with ProSebienSat in Germany, spent three years as a content board member with regulatory body, Ofcom and been appointed a board member of the British Board of Film Classification, as well as running her own content consultancy, MacKenzie Media.

Conway said: “Lesley joins us at an exciting time in our development. Made Television continues to grow at-a-pace and Lesley’s advice and support will be invaluable in taking us forward to meet the many opportunities that lie ahead.

“We are looking forward to tapping into Lesley’s considerable expertise within the traditional and digital media sector and we’re delighted to welcome her to the Made Television Board.”

Made Television has expanded its city-focused model to Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool and Tyne & Wear. It broadcasts on Sky, Virgin and Freeview, as well as online. Its Leeds studios are located in Chapeltown.
