People: Law firm expands family team; CEO hire for engineering company; and more

Law firm Mills & Reeve has made a trio of hires to its Leeds family team.

The team has welcomed back Ellie Foster as a principal associate, who was one of the original members that left Addleshaw Goddard to set up the Leeds family team at Mills & Reeve in 2008. Following her departure in 2012, she worked at Harrogate Family Law.

Joining the team as a senior associate is Claudia Gilham, who previously worked at Harrogate Family law where she was an associate solicitor.

Also returning to the family team is legal secretary Linda Nawoj, who worked for Mills & Reeve from 2008 to 2011, and is joining from Wrigleys.

Philip Way, head of the Leeds office, said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Claudia to the firm and former colleagues, Ellie and Linda, back into the fold.

Charles Price, newly-appointed CEO of Actavo | Industrial Division.

International engineering solutions company Actavo has appointed Charles Price as CEO of its industrial division.

Price joins Wakefield-based Actavo from CLH Pipeline System, where he served as CEO. Previously, he held leadership roles at Oil & Pipelines Agency, and Alderley working in Africa, the Middle and Far East and Russia), having started his career at ICI, a FTSE30 company.

Chairman and CEO of Actavo, Sean Corkery, said: “Charles is a CEO with extensive international experience and a proven track record over 25 years in chemical, oil and gas, capital equipment and infrastructure across both the public and private sectors.

“His appointment comes as Actavo this month celebrates the 50th anniversary of its industrial business. Beattie North director Rachel Gladwin with Eileen Stretton

Beattie, the creative communications group which has one of its main offices in Leeds, has recruited Eileen Stretton, former MD at Golley Slater PR North.

The newly created client and business development director role, based in Leeds, will see Stretton join Beattie director Rachel Gladwin’s team and is the group’s fifth major signing for 2017.

Stretton said: “The opportunity to work alongside Rachel and the truly talented 130-strong Beattie team across the UK is so exciting for me; I was thrilled to be approached. I am joining at a great time, when I feel my skills and background can make a big contribution to the agency’s ongoing success story.”

Stretton has 18 years’ experience in PR. She began her career at Burson-Marsteller and progressed through the ranks at the Red Consultancy and Cow PR, before moving in house as head of consumer media and brand campaigns at Morrisons supermarkets. Latterly she was MD at Golley Slater North.

Among the big names who have joined Beattie since January are Kevin Roberts, the former global CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi and former Grayling CEO Alison Clarke.
