Grade II-listed textile hub set for conference transformation

Grade II-listed textile trading hub Cloth Hall Court has undergone a £4.5m refurbishment, set to transform it into a conference centre.

Formerly the home of Leeds Law School, part of Leeds Beckett University, Cloth Hall Court has been taken on by Well Met, the university’s conferencing and events division.

Set to open in July, Cloth Hall Court is a 400,000 sq ft development being designed by Manchester architects Sheppard Robson.

The building underwent significant renovation in the mid-1990s, demolishing all the internal floors and finishes retaining only the external façade to Quebec Street.

This has enabled Sheppard Robson to remodel the entire internal structure.

Clare Vidler, conference manager at Well Met said: “We’ve worked closely with Sheppard Robson throughout the refurbishment to ensure that Cloth Hall Court operates effectively for our customers with a number of very distinctive multi-purpose spaces.

“Particular detail has been paid to the final fixtures and fittings, all of which have been chosen to create a comfortable and practical environment for delegates to make sure that they get the most out of their meeting or conference. We now eagerly await our first visitors in just over a month’s time!”
