Marco Pierre White to make an appearance at Leeds restaurant launch

A new Italian restaurant from Marco Pierre White will officially launch this week.

The Leeds-born celebrity chef himself will be in attendance at the launch of the city centre restaurant, Marco’s New York Italian.

The restaurant opened in April this year alongside the ibis Styles hotel near the Arena, as part of the Merrion Centre’s multi-million pound revival.

Marco Pierre White, who has just returned from filming Hell’s Kitchen Down Under in Australia, said: “It has been a long time coming and I’m delighted we are finally open and welcoming guests.

“I’ve just returned from filming in Australia so it will be my first visit to the restaurant. I’m really looking forward to joining the team and finding out how the first couple of months have been.”

The 88-seater restaurant is Marco Pierre White’s first Leeds restaurant.

Lisa Sutcliffe, general manager of Marco’s New York Italian Leeds, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming Marco Pierre White to the restaurant later this month.

“It’s a real honour to be operating his first Leeds restaurant and to give our guests the chance to meet the Godfather of British cuisine themselves.”
