100 Club Profile: Tim Waring, Quod director

Tim Waring is a director at Quod North, which he set up in 2014.

He is a member of the Leeds Community Foundation’s 100 Club, a patronage scheme for individuals who are motivated to make a difference in Leeds.

Here, he discusses what he loves about the city, and why he’s involved in the foundation.

What is your favourite thing about Leeds?

The manageable scale of the City and its diversity. It has everything – a national brand (that is growing internationally), one the most vibrant city centres in the country, a significant economy which has a wide geographical pull, a strong mix of independent and national brands, and the Yorkshire countryside on its doorstep. What else could you ask for?

What is the worst thing about the city?

The gap between the ‘haves and the have nots’.

Why are you a member of Leeds Community Foundation’s 100 Club?

To make a local difference. With Quod’s success and our strong business network, we want add something back into the local community. The diversity of interests the LCF represent gives us the ability to support a broad range of the communities which need help.

What community issues are important to you?

Quality of the environment is so important, as it shapes social behaviour. High quality environments lead to civic pride and can really lift a community, whilst helping to tackle economic and social exclusion at the same time.
