Expedia and Disneyland backing for new venture helping business people hack the holiday system
A Leeds-based entrepreneur has launched a firm to help business people hack the holiday system, which has already received backing from holiday giants including Expedia, Thomson and Disneyland.
Gaynor Hughes has formed The Holiday Hack to bridge the gap between a luxurious holiday and a bargain break.
The two-month old firm helps business people to find the ideal getaway quickly and easily, and earns a commission through the firm’s marketing efforts from the site which its visitors click through and book.
Inspired by her late mother, Karen, who lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year, Hughes recalls how the mother and daughter duo always had an eye for a bargain.
She says: “My mum and I used to say how our dream job would be to find people their ideal holiday. My mum was a huge inspiration to me and I’m proud to have launched The Holiday Hack in her honour.”
Supported by the world’s largest business accelerator programme, Entrepreneurial Spark, The Holiday Hack is based from its Leeds city centre offices.
Just eight weeks since launching the firm has already supported 70 people to book a break, including personal and business travel deals.
Local businesswoman, Ellie MacDonald, founder of MacComms PR agency, used The Holiday Hack to book an Easter getaway to Ibiza.
She said: “Having run my own start-up firm for two years, I was in desperate need of a break. I didn’t know where to go and I didn’t have the time to scour the internet for deals. I approached The Holiday Hack and swiftly confirmed an all-inclusive booking in a 4* resort in the sun which was exactly what I needed and even better than I could have found myself.”
Since the start-up firm’s launch, the company has already been successful in securing a contract with Music Festival Slam Dunk. This will see discounted deals for 60,000 visitors attending the three festivals across the UK use The Holiday Hack to book accommodation and travel.
