Dealmaker jumps ship to rival law firm

Dealmaker Pete Wood has jumped ship from Pinsent Masons and has taken on a partner role at Addleshaw Goddard.

He joins the corporate team in the Leeds office, after years of experience in private equity and M&A deals across retail, manufacturing and financial services.

Garry Elliott at Addleshaw Goddard said: “We are delighted that Pete is joining us. Pete’s experience, his relationships and his character, combined with his proven track record of deal leadership, will further enhance our team, and his way of working fits well with our culture and approach to clients and transactions.

“His hire is testament to our ambition to remain as the number one Corporate team operating in the region and will in particular bring further Private Equity experience and capability to our local and national teams.”

Pete Wood commented: “After over 20 successful years at Pinsents, I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the corporate team at Addleshaw Goddard in Leeds.

“Their reputation for working on high quality transactions for high quality clients is second to none and their reputation as one of the finest corporate law firms in the North is well deserved. I am looking forward to working with the team there to help continue their impressive growth in the local market place”.

Addleshaw Goddard’s Corporate team continues to grow its market share in the Yorkshire market, advising on transactions worth over £1bn during 2016/2017.

Over the last six months the team has acted on the sale of Go Outdoors to JD Sports, the proposed investment into M.K.M. Building Supplies by Bain Capital, R&R Ice Cream’s JV with Nestlé, William Jackson Food Group’s acquisition of the Food Doctor, the exits of North Edge from Sumo Digital and Fine Industries, the LDC backed acquisition of PAW Structures and Elysian Capital’s investment in Fastflow Group.
