Pharma Biotech secures £5m Danish export deal

Pharma Biotech (PBSC), a Huddersfield company which supplies components for clean controlled environments, has secured a £5m contract exporting to Denmark.

PBSC won the business with the Technical University of Denmark, which will last for two years and see the company supply and install specialist containment equipment for the university.

Exporting is central to PBSC’s future business strategy, it says, as its continued success is dependent on its ability to grow its overseas sales and customer base.

PBSC’s customer base is already spread across six continents and includes countries such as Canada, China, Mexico, Singapore, India and Italy.

The company was supported in the latest export deal with trade finance support from the UK’s export credit agency UK Export Finance, and NatWest.

Jamie Davis, sales and commercial director for PBSC, said: “The contract with the Technical University of Denmark was a fantastic opportunity for the company which we might have had to walk away from without the support that Natwest and UKEF gave us. Thanks to them, we could take full advantage of this opportunity to grow our exporting business and establish this new relationship.”

Paul Wright, export finance manager for Yorkshire and Humber, UKEF, said: “UKEF is here to help businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. This case shows how UKEF’s innovative and flexible approach to collaborating with private sector finance really works to offer UK exporters the support they need to succeed abroad.”

“NatWest is pleased to have supported PBSC by working with UKEF. This really is a great example of how we find solutions to meet the needs of our customers. We hope to see more successes like this in future, and look forward to working with both PBSC and UKEF again,” added David Hodgson, senior relationship manager, NatWest.
