Jobs saved after Harrogate interior design acquisition

Yorkshire-based interior design business Furnish & Fettle is celebrating a successful period of growth after acquiring a division of a rival Harrogate firm that went into liquidation.

Margaret Jane Interiors Ltd trading as James Brindley ceased trading this year, appointing liquidators on 5 June. Furnish & Fettle acquired their interior design team prior to the liquidation.

The company saved 10 jobs with the acquisition, just a year after launching.

It re-branded and opened two showrooms in Wetherby and Harrogate.

Furnish & Fettle story launched in June 2016 when husband and wife team Eleanor and Glyn Goddard opened their first Furnish & Fettle showroom on Wetherby High Street, having taken over the Wetherby branch of James Brindley.

Eight months later it acquired the interior design division, before it went into liquidation.

Glyn Goddard, co-owner said: ‘We are celebrating a really good year in which we have achieved far more than we ever thought possible. We are really proud to have preserved a large number of jobs in the local area after James Brindley’s closed down and would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work and dedication to Furnish & Fettle.

“We feel very lucky to have a great team of experts and some wonderful customers who have supported us and put their trust in us over the past year.”
