Director joins Morrisons’ remuneration committee

Non-executive director Tony van Kralingen has been appointed to the board and remuneration committee of Morrisons Supermarkets.

He will join from 1 September, in the midst of a dispute over the pay of top executives, which saw shareholders revolt and only narrowly pass a remuneration policy that will allow chief executive David Potts to earn £5.3m.

Van Kralingen is currently chairman of Crown Commercial Services, a trading fund in the British Government, a role he has held since May 2016.

He served 35 years at SABMiller PLC, 14 of which he was on the executive committee.

Andrew Higginson, Chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Tony. He brings his very broad experience in the drinks industry across a number of disciplines including human resources, marketing, supply chain and manufacturing. He will be an important addition to our board.”

Tony van Kralingen said: “I am very excited about joining Morrisons. I look forward to working with the board and the executive team to contribute to the continued revival of this great British company.”
