Manufacturer invests in multi-million pound box factory expansion

Cepac is investing £2m in the expansion of its corrugated packaging factory in East Yorkshire.

The packaging manufacturer is expanding its Rawcliffe Bridge factory in East Yorkshire, following hot on the heels of a £1m investment in its Doncaster site.

A production and warehousing facility of 45,000 sq ft is being constructed at Rawcliffe. The Rawcliffe site specialises in bespoke corrugated supply chain solutions, particularly multi-point glued heavyweight board grades for performance applications.

Cepac purchased the Rawcliffe site in 2013 and since then it has more than doubled turnover with targeted investments, increasing its workforce from 75 to 125. It is a major supplier to Jaguar Land Rover.

Cepac has sites in Darlington, Rotherham, Doncaster and Rawcliffe. It is owned by Capital House Investments, via Europa Holdings, both of which are based in the Caymen Islands.

In its latest accounts, for 2015, it turned over £87.8m, with pretax profits of £7.5m.

General manager of the Rawcliffe Bridge factory, Richard Moore, said: “Cepac has invested in our site since the acquisition and this latest phase represents the most significant investment at the site for many years. The improvements really secure the long-term future of Rawcliffe and underpin its continued growth and our ability to service our customers, in addition to continuing to provide increased employment opportunities for our excellent team.

“The spirit in the plant has been significantly buoyed by this announcement. The investment is absolutely key to our future strategic objectives. Under Cepac’s ownership the plant has thrived and we are all very excited about the future and our plans for continued expansion.”

The Rawcliffe site has produced paper-based materials for almost 130 years, having originally been developed for the manufacture of graphic papers.

Ground was broken on the site in early June and foundations are due to be laid this week (w/c 10 July) with steel work on the new buildings to follow.

Founded in 1999, Cepac is part of the international HSA Group.
