Jonathan Oldfield is managing director at Boroughbridge-based waste baler provider Riverside Waste Machinery

Where do you live/where are you from?
I’m originally from Chester, but I moved to Yorkshire when I was four and have lived in Harrogate since my early 20’s.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?
I can’t name one single place – Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey both spring to mind as great spots to visit with the family.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?
Diggerland – I want to take my three year old. Well, that’s my excuse anyway!

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?
Anything I’ve eaten at William & Victoria in Harrogate has always been amazing!

What is your most Yorkshire trait?
I’m tight! I love a bargain (apologies for playing on the stereotype).

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.
That Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK. And that if we were a country, we would have ranked 12th in the world in the 2012 Olympics!

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?
I could pick a number of people – Patrick Stewart, Ed Sheeran, Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis), Sean Bean.

First experience of Yorkshire (for non-Yorkshire folk)
Going to school singing ‘We plough the fields and scatter’ – the most memorable thing being the Yorkshire accent!

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?
Absolutely nothing.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?
Traditional Lancashire pies!

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?
Stereotyping – I love whippets and flat caps, but I own neither!
