Nine Leeds area blocks fail cladding safety tests

Seven high-rise tower blocks in Leeds and more in the area have failed cladding safety tests according to West Yorkshire Fire Service.

Leeds Park Plaza is among those who have not passed the tests following the Grenfell tragedy earlier this year which claimed the lives of 80 people.

Two Unite student blocks have also been included in the tests, along with two blocks, one in Bradford and the other in Halifax, according to the BBC.

All the buildings are six storeys or higher.

They include Mixenden, Wheatley and Jumples Courts in Lower Mixenden, Waterside Apartments on Gotts Road, Waterloo Court Apartments on Hunslet Road, Park Plaza Hotel in Boar Lane; the unoccupied Concept Place student block on Park Lane, Sky Plaza student block on Clay Pit Lane and Landmark House on Broadway.
