Does your FD deserve a medal?

The superstars of the finance world are being given their chance to shine at the inaugural Northern Finance Director Awards, but there isn’t long left to get your entries and nominations in before the deadline.

More than 180 nominations have already been received for finance directors across the North from a range of sectors but with less than a week to go, organisers are making their final call for entries.

Business and finance glitterati from across the North are set to come together on October 5 at the Radisson Blu Edwardian in Manchester for a gala awards ceremony to recognise the financial stars who are leading in their field and contributing to the growth of the North’s economy.

Judges will be looking for finance directors who have made an impact on their business through their leadership style, as well as evidence of how they have influenced the overall strategic direction of the business.

The awards, sponsored by Barclays, EY and Squire Patton Boggs, are open to finance directors in all industries and size of business, whether a fast-growing SME or an innovative Plc.

Tony Walsh, head of the North for Barclays Corporate Banking said: “With the growing optimism in business it is an exciting opportunity for us to highlight the leaders in the finance arena. This will be the first time we’ve been able to do this across the whole of the North to really showcase the wealth of talent we have here in the Northern Powerhouse.”

Paul Mann, partner at Squire Patton Boggs, said: “The role of the corporate finance director has grown over the years and they increasingly play a fundamental role in not only the success of their business but also to the prosperity of our economy”.

Mark Pickard, partner at EY, said: “We know that the North of England houses some very talented FDs who help steer companies through a multitude of challenges in their respective sectors, showing great leadership qualities for the benefit of their finance team and the wider business. This is a real opportunity to showcase all that they, and the North, has to offer.”

Nominations can be submitted via www.northernfdawards.co.uk by July 31.
