University’s conference offering launches following £4.5m refurbishment

Leeds Beckett University’s conference division has opened for business with the launch of a city centre venue following a £4.5m refurbishment programme.

Well Met Conferencing says Cloth Hall Court in Leeds is a response to growing demand for its services and come as the city was named fifth best conferencing city in the UK with the growth of academic venues being cited as a key factor.

It said Cloth Hall Court is set to become a “hub for business and enterprise” in the city with four floors for conferencing space. The site also houses Leeds Beckett Enterprise Services, the Yorkshire division of the Institute of Directors and the newly formed Unity Partnership.

The refurbishment, which was commissioned to Sheppard Robson Architects and contracted to Overbury, transformed the former 18th century cloth trading site.

Clare Vidler, conferencing manager for Well Met, said: “We’re delighted with the finished article and especially proud of the work that the Well Met team put into the finishing details, which are an integral part of the overall feel of Cloth Hall Court. Investing in fantastic facilities for our customers is something we’re constantly working to provide to a high level, and we feel that we’ve achieved this with Cloth Hall Court.

“Moving into the dedicated conferencing environment with a brand new facility was initially daunting, so it’s with great pride that I can say that the transition over here from the University has been made all the smoother due to our fabulous team. We’re now looking forward to a busy few months welcoming visitors and guests and hosting some fabulous conferences.”
