Bradford Brewery reopens former vacant ale house

A vacant pub that had stood empty for four years is getting a new lease of life thanks to Bradford Brewery.

Bradford is reopening the Exchange Ale House in the city centre, taking the lease from trust Inns for the bar, below the grade 1-listed Wool Exchange on Market Street.

The hostelry had fallen into disrepair and the brewery is investing in an extensive refurbishment, maintaining its vaulted brick barrel ceiling and flagstone floor.

As well as the brewery’s own draught beers and Bradford Lager, the Exchange will stock other draught keg lines including Krusovice, Amstel, and Maltsmiths. It will offer a range of bottled beers, including Bradford Brewery’s Lager and Hockey Pale and a selection from Bohemia Regent and Morretti.

Exchange bar manager Berry Jagoda Lapaj said: “We hope past patrons will be pleased with what’s been done and will come back and relive some of the heydays of the Exchange, along with new customers who will hopefully be giving it a try.
