Luxury chocolatier rides in to Harrogate

Chocolatiers Godiva have unwrapped plans to open a Harrogate store.

The luxury chocolate specialists signed a 10-year lease for 21 Prospect Place in the spa down.

The 2,373 sq ft site covers the ground and first floor, with retailers including Space NK, L’Occitane, LK Bennett, Whistles, Jo Malone and Molton Brown nearby.

Godiva was founded in 1926 in Belgium. It opened Café Godiva in London’s Harrods department store in 2012.

High Point Estates Ltd, represented jointly by Savills and Central Retail, has let the site.

Josh Howe, associate in the retail team at Savills Leeds, said: “We are pleased to have secured this deal with Godiva on behalf of our client. The brand will perfectly complement the surrounding mix of high quality retailers, while the prominent corner location is ideal for the brand.”

Tom Limbert, director at Central Retail, added: “Godiva is now rolling out stores across the UK, but currently only has locations in London.

“This deal really does show the strength of Harrogate, which the brand has chosen for one of its first stores outside the capital.”

The chocolatiers were represented by JLL.
