Appointments: Partner appointment at Raworths; Solicitor returns to Yorkshire after spell in London immigration law sector

Law firm Raworths has recruited Peter Greswold as a partner in its Trusts, Wills and Estates team.

Greswold brings 30 years of experience to the role, and most recently was a partner at Wriglets.

He specialises in structured capital tax planning, inheritance tax strategies, asset protection and long term succession issues. His appointment brings the team, headed by Rachel Tunnicliffe, to 19 members of staff in total.

Tunnicliffe said: “It’s tremendous to have Peter on board. He is an extremely well-respected figure professionally and his expertise will complement our existing structure superbly.

“His ability and personality will be a great asset, not only for our clients, who will undoubtedly benefit from his knowledge but also for the younger members of the team who can learn from him. Developing technical ability is very important to us and all solicitors in the department are either STEP members or working towards that significant qualification.”

Peter Greswold added: “I’m delighted to be joining Raworths, the firm’s proposition is strong as it offers an equal mix of private client and commercial expertise. In addition, the strength and size of the team ensures clients receive well informed, robust advice.”

The team also welcomes Ryan Carter as the fourth fee-earner to join the team in the last 12 months.

Williamsons Solicitors has appointed Faye Walker to its family and childcare department.

Walker spent eight years down in London, starting her career as an immigration caseworker with London-based Duncan Lewis. She moved to Streeter Marshall in Croydon where she qualified in 2013 after being awarded a training contract.

She returns to Yorkshire, having attended University of Hull and the University of Law in York. She will be working at Williamsons’ Hull head office.

“Immigration work was both interesting and challenging in that I represented people who faced the most difficult circumstances, applying for the right to remain in the UK or facing imminent deportation,” she said.

“My role with Williamsons is to advise on all aspects of family law, including divorce, matrimonial finances and children matters,” said Miss Walker. “It is a matter of striving for the best possible outcome for each and every client.”

Sarah Clubley, head of department, said: “We are delighted to welcome Faye into our firm.”
